Planting Seeds

Hos 10:12 Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will reap a crop of my love; plow the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower salvation upon you. TLB

Jer 1:10 Today your work begins, to warn the nations and the kingdoms of the world. In accord with my words spoken through your mouth I will tear down some and destroy them, and plant others, nurture them, and make them strong and great." TLB

Eccl 3:2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, NIV

Eccl 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: NIV

Despite all the gloom that we see around us, I believe this is a God-ordained time of planting. Some are "uprooting" and "tearing down" things. God said that He would tear down, destroy and that He would also plant, nurture, and make certain things strong.

We need to look and listen with spiritual eyes and ears. God may be at work in the middle of what seems to be confusion and chaos. He may be leveling the playing field. He may be setting the stage for something special and spectacular, something we have never seen before. To many this is a time to cut their loses, bring in the fishing nets, sell off the farming equipment and hunker down in their spiritual, emotional and economical bomb shelters waiting for the end of the world.

There is a simple promise that God made to His children way back when the earth had just been destroyed by the Flood. All human lives, but eight were lost due to their own sin and rebellion. There has never been such a bleak period since the Creation. Gen 8:22 "As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease." NIV God said that seedtime and harvest would never cease as long as the earth endures. If we sow we will still reap. It is a promise that we can take to the bank - Heaven's Bank!

Man made systems and institutions may fail, but God's Word remains true and infallible. He has promised to take care of His children who love Him. obey Him, seek Him and worship Him. He promised to provide, protect, and preserve them during their sojourn on the earth.

What do you say, let's get out our spiritual farming equipment. There is hard ground in our hearts that needs to be broken up and prepared for the Seed of the Word of God and the outpouring of His Holy Spirit. We need to begin sowing precious righteous seed into the good soil of the lives of boys and girls, men and women wherever we can find them. Don't worry about the clouds and winds that seem to be whipping around us. The Lord of the Harvest has instructed us to be about His business of sowing His Love into the hearts of mankind. Actually in this time of darkness and fear there could not be a better time of showing forth the Light and Love of God. In times of prosperity and wealth many would not take notice. Now His Church, the Body of Christ will truly show forth as lights in a dark world as a city set upon a hill. Men and women will now listen and see that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and believe on Him as their Savior and Lord.

God bless you as you sow!
